FM753C Seismic Anchoring - Optus Stadium

Optus Stadium - Western Australia: Fastening of aluminium sub-frame for a secondary curtain wall and facade.

With views of the picturesque Swan River and Perth city in the west and the foothills in the east, this 60,000 seat, world-class, multi-purpose Stadium hosts a variety of sports and entertainment events, including Australian Football League, International and Big Bash League cricket, soccer, rugby league and union, plus concerts.

Project Details

The Western Australian State Government began construction on Optus Stadium in December 2013, with the Stadium officially opening on Sunday 21 January 2018.

Application

Fastening of Aluminium Subframe for secondary curtain wall and Facade.

Empire Facades required optimum performance from a 10mm diameter 316 grade stainless steel mechanical anchor.

In consultation with Force Fasteners and the ICCONS Engineering team, the design criteria was analysed and the optimal product solution was determined.

ICCONS FM753 Crack is an extreme performance expansion anchor with seismic C1 and C2 certification. This anchor is ideal for applications requiring the highest load performance. The FM753 Crack is National Code Compliant, ETA approved, cracked concrete approved, seismic approved, fire rated and available in both 9.8 grade carbon steel and 316 stainless steel.

Anchor Selection

The anchor selected was FM75310115SS (316 Stainless Steel). The construction of Optus Stadium required highly specified concrete anchors to ensure the highest build quality was achieved. Choosing anchors compliant with AS5216:2018 (Australian Standard) as referenced in the NCC is the best way to ensure this is achieved.

Force Fasteners and the ICCONS Engineering and Technical Sales team were able to provide the best result possible for the team at Empire Facades.
