Yagan Square Perth: ICCONS Bi-Metal Self Drilling screws with proprietary design to solve a metal fixture application hurdle

Specification for a high-performance stainless-steel screw in the façade envelop to drill and fix in one operation into thick steel seemed initially challenging for RAC Facades to source for this prestigious project.

The primary issue was finding a “true grade” stainless steel screw that maintained its pre-drilling and tapping capabilities. 

Force Fasteners a local Fastening Specialist based in Wangara were quick to identify and provide samples for approval from the ICCONS portfolio of Stainless steel self-drilling screws.

True austenitic stainless-steel screws that can self-drill into steel structures is achieved by a proprietary Bi-Metal fusion welding process that joins a hardened carbon steel drill tip to the stainless-steel shank of the screw.

This ultimately results in screws that have the same self-drilling capabilities as a carbon steel screw (in this case up to 12mm), whilst maintaining the corrosive resistance properties of a stainless steel screw.
