The NorthConnex project has been constructed to ease congestion on Pennant Hills Road by joining the M1 Pacific Motorway and the Hills M2 Motorway through the construction of two 9 kilometre tunnels
Project Details
During the tunnelling process water pockets were struck and when it came to the fit-out stage this needed to be controlled. A waterproofing membrane was designed to direct the water to a drainage point.
The GT-3 Gas Tool* was used to fix the membrane into the tunnel walls. A 35mm nail was used to shoot steel strapping and mesh, which was fired on top of the membrane to secure it.
The ICCONS NSW team and Nepean Boltmaster trained all users of the GT-3 Gas Tools* to ensure correct usage, increase productivity and decrease any wastage. This was also supported with a Tool Servicing Program ensuring downtime was limited and tools were kept operational throughout the project.
Over 1,500,000 ICCONS 35mm Gas Pins were supplied and 30 GT-3 Gas Tools*.
*GT-3 Gas Tool has been superseded by GT-6IXF Gas Tool
