Sunshine Secondary College - West Campus Redevelopment: Deep Embedment Threaded Stud using ICCONS Hybrid Injection Adhesive (BIS-HY)
As a part of a local government initiative, the Sunshine College is undertaking a large scale redevelopment across two separate sites. The development includes a total of 8 new buildings at the North Campus and 7 new building at the West Campus, all consisting of on-ground structural slab and steel portal frame superstructures.

Recently ICCONS were approached by Daniel Dimitrijevski and David Burns of the Hutchison Building Group with the requirement to perform on-site testing in accordance with the procedures of a 'Safety Critical' application in concrete and AS 5216:2018.
ICCONS along with Daniel, David, and WGA Engineering worked as a group in the process of verifying that the BIS-HY and BIS-V Injection Chemical Adhesive system were in fact the correct platform for the application. Not only were there substantial working loads exerted on the anchors but also minimum embedment depth, anchor diameter and MPa of the concrete strength were combined factors in choosing this platform. Moreover the added feature of quick curing times and ability to continue with works in applying torque to the anchors the very same day as required was a huge drawcard for using BIS-HY.
Following the team's efforts in collating all the correct data, on-site load tests were performed on 15% of the installed anchors. The testing was performed by the ICCONS VIC Civil and Infrastructure Team in order to verify site-specific loads nominated by WGA Engineering. This added another level of confidence that ICCONS are serious when it comes to safety for both Hutchinson Builders and the design engineers themselves.
