What is Structnail?
Structnail is a proprietary nailing system designed for fixing into steel frames. It offers the user versatility, speed, and efficiency across a broad range of applications.
The key to the performance of Structnail is the design of nail point and knurl, which are made from special grades of steel (1060 Carbon Steel) and hardened to become extremely strong. The nails are then coated in the PT2000 coating, which is suitable for Category 3 environments. This proprietary coating is compliant with Bluescope® Steel.
Based on the unique design of the Supersharpy nail and delivery method, the nail achieves high load performance and speed of installation.
It is available in both pneumatic and gas fired options, catering to the needs of installers on-site and manufacturing.
Structnail has also achieved approvals with a variety of systems including James Hardie and Weathertex. (Please check for technical supplements for more information).
How does Structnail work?
When driven into steel with the appropriate tool, the Supersharpy ballistic shaped point uniformly pierces the steel, instead of drilling or tearing it. The displaced steel rebounds around the nail, to create a strong compressive force on the shank of the nail. This force working in conjunction with the proprietary knurling pattern designed for the steel being joined creates a high friction force that prohibits withdrawal of the nail from the steel.

How to use Structnail
Pneumatic:
- Ensure all required PPE is used.
- Ensure appropriate Air compressor with the recommended PSI is used.
- Connect 15-degree coil Nailer to the air compressor.
- Set air compressor to required PSI.
- Load the required length Gripshank Supersharpy Coil Nails into the coil Nailer. Please note adjustments may need to be made to the coil drum for the required length of nail.
- Disengage safety on coil Nailer, and set to single shot (if selection available on coil Nailer).
- Press the nose piece of the tool against the working surface ensuring 90-degree angle.
- Pull trigger of the coil Nailer.
- Repeat the above process for the required number of fixings.
Gas:
- Ensure all required PPE is used as per operations manual.
- Install battery into the tool ensuring battery has sufficient charge.
- Loading required number of nails into the tool. Pull the follower to the back of the tool and load nails in. Gently release the follower ensuring to control the follower by hand, to reduce the pressure of the breakaway collation. Releasing this with force may break the collation.
- Install GT-IXF-24 gas cell into the tool.
- Press the nose piece of the tool against the working surface ensuring it is at 90 degrees.
- Pull the trigger of the tool.
- Repeat the above process for the required numbers of fixings.
